Will the earth implode if it's done? I've done research and searched the webz only to find some people who say its fine, just a bit louder, and others who say it's terrible, unsafe, and wears out your chain/chainring. The last thing I want is my chain to fall off, especially since I don't have brakes.

Edit: I'm having worse problems. There are two points where my chain is SUPER saggy, while everywhere else the tension seems fine. What's worse is, if I loosen up the bolts, the chainring BARELY moves against the spider, meaning, I can't work out any tight spots. I'm really at a loss. Now I'm starting to wonder if I should just go buy a 40t 1/8 chainring somewhere...

In your position, I'd probably go for a quality 1/8" chainring, especially if the one you've got isn't round.

My girlfriend's Kilo has an 1/8" cog and chain with a 3/32" chainring. It works fine. It's just a little noisy.

But in your position, maybe you want to look at a new chainring.

Works just fine. If your current chainring is worn out or old I would suggest getting a new one.

No, it just has two really loose spots, while the rest of the tension is near perfect.

Har har. Did some research, how hard is it going to be to find a 40t chainring with 118 BCD? I'm guessing near impossible? My only other option is to go buy the EXACT same chainring I'm running now on eBay, although it's like new, and has never been used on a bike before. So, I'm thinking the chain tension should be fine, but that still leaves me with running the 1/8 chain on the 3/32 chainring.

1/8 + 3/32 works fine, as long as the chain is 1/8. Buying the same chainring might solve your problems, but it might also give you another chainring with tight and loose spots (being of the same make). Chainrings are imperfect by nature and a new one of the same make is likely to be imperfect in the same way. And yeah, you're probably not going to find a 1/8 118BCD chainring.
