Anyone doing this ride put on by the Bull Shifters Club? Figure I'd post it up now so it gave people some time to see the thread in case they want to do it! I haven't registered yet because I haven't decided if I'm doing the century or the 200k, but I will be there doing one of them!

Super hilly route, but that just makes it more fun. Anyone else going to make it or done it in the past? :)

Possible, either Heart of AZ or the Tri State Gran Fondo.

173793Rode the inaugural ride of Heart of Az back in the 80s sometime on our tandem.
The orginal organizers said the route was not hilly . . . boy were they wrong!
Asked them after the event if they had bicycled the route . . ."No, but we did it in the car . . ."
Actually had folks that finished after dark.
Challenging, but nice/quiet ride. Enjoy!
Pedal on TWOgether!

Less than a month away! Sent in my registration today! I'm looking forward to this! Did 82 miles a week ago, but only with 3000 feet of elevation gain. Hoping to do 4000 this weekend with a solid 75 or 80. Hoping that will be enough to get me to be able to do the 6000-7000 for the century! Also got my arm warmers in, and my knee warmers in, for preparation of cooler temps in the morning. May or may not need then, but figured I should have them just in case anyways. Just crossing my fingers I don't get sick or hurt before the century!

Fun ride today, and it wasn't even cold! Windy as balls though, that sucked worse than the elevation! Can't wait for next year!

Incredible effort, Great details on the Garmin report. That last climb was brutal, you were huffing and puffing I would imagine, Absolutely incredible time and overall effort.

How were the roads. I looked at doing this ride but riding on 93 would scare me *&%$less.

Climbs weren't too bad, but man that wind was wearing me down quick. I was solo for the part leading up to Yarnell and man I was barely crawling because of that wind, I was just praying for a mountain to at least feel like I should be going that slow!

The roads are horrible condition wise, felt like Paris-Roubaix at times, but traffic wise it wasn't bad at all. Actually, there was very little traffic, less than I'm used to in Phoenix at least.

I know the winds slowed me Saturday afternoon and I only climbed @1500 feet, single track stuff.

BUT still, you freakin whiner, 5 hours, max spin of 156, pat yourself on the back. Did you win the ride?

I was the third finisher. Could have been the first, but was enjoying my chocolate fudge bar at the last sag stop. :P
