After these 2 or 3 days of rain, i was anxious to get back on the bike and ride. So i get ready, start prepping my bike and notice my Front Der. is out of alignment and it's rubbing up on the chain. Go to adjust it and the der. cable goes limp. I struggle with it for about 15 mins and finally get back to where i want it and adjust it accordingly. Get ready to ride and head out and i'm not even 100 ft from my house and i change gears and boom, my chain comes off. adjusted my derailleur, popped my chain back on and got going. A few miles down the road, shift gears and again, my chain comes off. I adjust my derailleur yet again and figured out it was shifting my chain too far out. Got going with everything going well and went up state college blvd past imperial and started climbing the hill. as i'm about 3/4 of the way up, i feel a sharp pain in my left quad. that's right, strained quad. get off the bike and I try to massage it and stretch it a bit to try and finish the ride but it's was too much to keep going. Didn't want to hurt it more and i had no choice so i turned around and headed back home. I was dying the whole way home and when i'm about 2 miles out, my pedals start acting up and won't clip in. Overall, a bad day for riding. I guess the cycling god's didn't want me to ride today :( Just hoping my quad heals up quickly so I can get back at it! Just wanted to vent that's all

Why didn' t you adjust the limit screws on the derailleur after the first throw of the chain?
Sorry about the horrible ride but I had a good one up the little hill!:D

You may just have to throw in the towel and buy a brand new bike. :innocent:
I hope your leg feels better soon.

Sounds like you were headed up Brea Canyon . . . ? That's how my wife and I start our Whittier Hills ride.
Brea Canyon to left on Pathfinder, left/right jog on Harbor to Old Fullerton Road; right on East Road, left/right log on Hacienda to West Road, right on Janine to Lacerna to Youngwood (?) to left on Mar Vista, right on Colima, left on Camino Del Sur, Right on Vallencento, left on Turnbull Canyon . . . then the real fun begins!

actually rick i was trying to go up towards cal state fullerton and ride some of those wide, hilly roads! and @cbad, I seriously wish i could! But unemployment sucks so for now, I'll stick to my baby. Might do some component upgrades so if you hear of anything for inexpensive, let me know! good news is my leg is feeling better! Got a good sports massage from my wife so hopefully i'll be back on the bike tomorrow if not, then monday!
