Mountain Biking - My New Ride

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I've been hanging out on Bike Forums for a few years as a Roadie. I recently moved to Colorado and a friend of mine who's an avid mountain bike rider set me up with a bike and took me out on a trail for the first time. It was 13 miles of singletrack with some pretty decent climbs and some technical sections. The trail pretty much destroyed me. I went over the handlebars twice, had to walk several sections, and it took every last ounce of energy to finish the ride. However, I had a huge grin on my face and I couldn't stop laughing from the pure joy of it all. What an amazing experience! :thumb:
I immediately started looking at bikes and after a few weeks of research, I brought my new ride home from the LBS...and I can hardly contain my excitement! I got a sweet deal on a 2010 Trek Fuel EX 9 since the 2011s are already on the floor. ($500 off)
My wife has a mountain bike too and we're going on a couple of rides this weekend in the Pike National Forest. I'm totally stoked!
Earlier this evening, I took some pics of my new ride. She weighs in at 26.5 pounds with pedals. Enjoy the bike porn!

She's a beauty.
Nice ride, and it is pretty light.
1. Good to hear that you got your OTB outta the way early. You can do anything now.
2. Don't list your bike weight here...that's ghey'azz roadie schizz.
3. Excellent bike! I'm jealous.
4. Welcome to the dark side. Park your roadie in a dark corner of the basement and burn that flippin' lycra, beeeyotches!!

The way TT curves is actually sexy... kool!
Thanks for all the kind words everyone. I'm loving mountain biking...it's so much fun! The wife and I went out yesterday and rode together on some sweet singletrack. It was at 9,300ft and actually snowed on us for a short period. It was surreal pedaling through a dense forest...with no wind and no sounds other than our tires rolling over the dirt...and a few snow flakes falling through the trees. It was one of those peaceful moments that becomes etched into your memory forever.
We're headed out tomorrow to ride a section of the Colorado trail and I can hardly wait!

Bike that nice-looking takes a bit of the sting out of seeing a non-Yeti in Colordao ;). Enjoy.

Man, that is sweet looking. Sometimes I dream of getting a brand new bike, but I couldn't bear to let my old one go. I'm still pretty jealous though

I'm just outside of Colorado Springs. There is so much to ride around here! Of course, nothing like Fruita of course. I'm fairly certain that you live in mountain bike paradise!

I looked long and hard at the 575. Yeti sure makes a sweet ride! In the end, the clearance price on the Fuel EX 9 combined with the slightly better climbing ability is what sold me on the Fuel EX. However, the 575 certainly edges out the Fuel EX 9 on the downhill. It was a tough choice!
