Mountain Biking - Gonna pull the trigger
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hi everyone. After much searching I am down to 2 Bikes.
2010 Cannodale F5 or 2011 Giant Revel 0
The CDale comes in at about $65 more than the Giant. Either way they are both a great deal.
I am going to ride both tomorrow and make a decision.
Based soley on the specification and the price difference, is one of these bikes a clear winner.
I really appreciate any advice.

I have a 2008 Cannondale F7, which I believe is the same frame as the 2010, but 3x8, V-brakes and a lesser fork. I've been quite happy with it - feels very lively, handles predictably. I've changed the grips (the stock ones were not making my hands happy at all) and tires, but otherwise everything is stock and holding up fine.

I like the Green and black Giant. Look like super choices, pictures once the decision is made!

As someone who owns four giants, I like the cannondale. The only question I have is whether the Cannondale uses components (handlebars, stems, etc.) that are specific to that company. Since Cannondales are being made overseas, it may be that they are using more widely accepted components. If I was you, I would research the components better.
In favor of the Revel 0, Giant is the best when it comes to standing behind their product. Their waranty practices are the best.
The reality is that both are similarly spec'd.
Go luck in your search.

Not in my experience, they wouldn't help me at all with a brand new frame which was out of alignment.
Spec to me they both look good but on looks and style I say the CD. I guess its all about what you want ad what you will be doing with it.. Good luck and let us know what you choose.
Just picked up the Giant Revel 0. I'll be going for my first ride this afternoon. It will be on the road as I haven't really researched where appropriate beginner trails are located.
Thanks all for the comments and advice.
I'm really looking forward to getting into this. Here's a quick pic
