I recently heard about some bike maufacturer that was introducing electric powered brakes on their bike line. Does anyone know who the bike manufacturer is? I wonder how they will work, if they are lighter, how long the battery will last, will they be popular?
I'm an electronics engineer, but I cannot figure out any benefit of electric brakes.

......just as useless as power steering.....
......Mavic's original Zap shifters didn't do too well.... but the new generation of their electronic shifters seem to be trouble free????
One possible reason I can see the use of electric brakes is for someone who is handicapped with the use of fingers.

Electric brakes are sometimes used on trailers, but they have the same problem as airbrakes on trucks - either on or off. You dont want that sort of thing on a 2 wheel machine where locked wheels result in dangerous loss of control. Electric brakes with modulation seems to be a very complicated solution to something that isnt a problem.

there is no point i think, it is soo easy to pull the brake the new idea is just one that has no point. It appears that maybe becasue its 'electronic' it's new and cool and everyone should get it. Some marketing idea probably.
