Utility Cycling - Yuba Mundo build question

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
So it looks like I will be getting the Mundo frame and I'll build it up myself. I wonder if some of you may be able to answer a couple of questions. They should probably go in the Bike Mechanics forum, but somehow I feel I'm more likely to get the answers here since Mundo owners hang out around here :)
First, the stem. The headset is apparently 1 1/8" threaded, I have no experience with threaded headsets, what kind of stem do I need for that? 1" quill???
Like this?

Can someone verify the size of the bottom bracket shell? Is it really 73/113?
Thanks a lot!

I think, that any quill stem will fit. They are all pretty much called 1" I've never seen a 1 1/8" stem. Am sure somebody made some somewhere, but given the bike is supposed to be used in the back of beyond, I can't imagine they would use something that non-standard.
73 is the width of the BB shell, the 113 is the spindle length. You may end up changing that, depending on your chainrings/crank.
Yeah, confusing: the headsets are called 1 1/8" but the stems are 1". Thanks!
Adam
I emailed Yuba, they said it's 68 but I saw in a review somewhere that it's 73 :( I guess, I should take whatever Yuba says.

Here's a PDF (http://yubaride.com/Pdfs/mundospecs2011.pdf) of the complete Mundo specs. It looks like they're using a 73x113 bottom bracket to me....

Thanks for finding that, that's very helpful. Yes, it says 73 in that PDF. Oh well...I can always return one if it's wrong.

Another suggestion for you:
Go ahead and pick up one of Yuba's Stand Alone kickstands (http://yubaride.com/yubashop/30-stand-alone-kickstand.html). They're pricy, but give a significant improvement in parked stability over the jumbo sidestand.

Yes, I considered that from the beginning, for a cargo bike this is a must.

There are two common current diameters of quill stems. A quill stem with a 22.2mm or 7/8" quill diameter fits 1" headsets. A stem with a 25.4mm or 1" quill diameter fits 1 1/8" headsets. I have bikes that require both sizes.
There are also 22mm quill stems that were used by the French and a smaller diameter used by older Schwinns and some BMX bikes per my understanding.
yeah, I suffer this problem recently.

Hi Adam, can you post a picture of a Yuba you built? Thanks (Mine is standard as seen at Yuba www)

I decided against Yuba Mundo for now. I'm waiting to see how the new Big Dummy turns out. Also Sun Bicycle announced an Xtracycle compatible cargo bike for around $600 complete bike.
