So my Shimano Deore shifters have crapped the bed after a surprisingly long run. I have been having trouble finding reviews of different products (I was thinking of upgrading to LX or XT). Any good websites with parts reviews? Or any feedback/experience with a particular type of Shimano or SRAM or other brand? Thanks for the input.

What happened to them ?

It happened very suddenly and at the same time for both shifters, but the they don't catch (most of the time). I press with my thumb and they go all the way down without shifting. It now takes 2-4 attempts to shift before they finally catch.

Try a good flushing with WD40. Just stick the straw in the cable exit and give it a good spray.

+1...except I'd probably use TriFlow instead of WD. The only thing WD is good for IMO is cutting oil for milling aluminum.

If you end up Shid-canning your shidders...look into some 2009+ XT's. Daggum...they shid like a MoFoYo!
