Fifty Plus (50+) - Celebrating: 1ST Year on BF and 1ST Century

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

It was a year ago I went looking for advise about bike riding after getting both hips replaced. Thanks to the people here I:

Went from a snug 36" waist to a comfortable 34"
Resting heart Rate @78 to 64
Getting worn out by a 15 mile ride and needing 3 hours to recover

to

Finishing a 115 mile century going home taking a shower and going out to dinner.

And many of you played a part in this through pictures, videos, advise, joking around and teaching me important stuff like HTFU and STFU.

My bikes are also better maintained than I ever knew how. I eat better and have a blood pressure that as a nurse recently commented, belongs to a 30 year old.

Thanks all-yeah I'm celebrating and amazed at what I did. Thanks for helping me STFU and HTFU.

BTW, the new bridge is named after Pat Tillman (AZ side) the former AZ Cardinal who enlisted in the Army with friends to fight for freedom, but was tragically killed by friendly fire and Michael O'Callahan (NV side) a veteran who served in Korea and in NV legislature for 40 years. Thank a vet for serving!

Just wait until you get to the 65-85+ thread. That's where the real action is.

Oh, by the way- congratulations. :)

Shave the beard off and you will be taking the Nurse on a date with that low BP:innocent:

Someone has said it already- There is only one person to blame for your current fitness. So well done.

Congrats on the first century. Appears that it was a very scenic route based on your pics.

For the desert Southwest it was great, Lake Mead, Hoover Dam and Red Rocks Canyon. BUT HEY then someone was doing a photo shoot of bikini models with a desert backdrop on the route to Blue Diamond. That kinda broke up the monotony.

Good job on the new and improved you. It is cool to ride a century and be able to go out and celebrate afterwards.

I was in bed by 7:30 and the next time I saw the clock it was 7:30 again. I was a tad worn out. I'm thinking I can get on the bike again tomorrow.

Thanks all.

I finished my first century this week and share in your excitement and appreciation to this forum. The advice and support on BF were a big part of making it happen for me.
