General Cycling Discussion - Nothing to lose, right?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Why shouldn't I buy this (http://columbiamo.craigslist.org/bik/1999518306.html)?
For $5, I might be able to salvage a few parts and at least the frame, right?

for $5 dollars, why are you asking us? you should already have it and tell us how you got it for $5.

Touche. I'll make the call tomorrow.

The ad's already been pulled, fyi.
Oh man, I missed out already! And I planned to call tomorrow morning. That's alright, I don't need another project.

What would you have used it for? I bought one like that a few years ago and ended up spending about $500 more on it to get it where I wanted. Now it sits in the garage collecting dust.

Not sure I would've actually put any effort into it at all. But seeing as I don't have a garage, I'd be forced to look at the $5 investment in my apartment's living room every day. If all it really needed was tires and a little TLC, I know plenty of friends in need of a bike to ride a few blocks to class.
But at this juncture, I can't tell if the ad was removed or not. Nothing gained, nothing lost. Or however that saying goes...
I like the $5 bike and "I'll call tomorrow". That thing was gone in minutes.

Well, as a general rule, any wonderful bargain is going to be sold quicker than you can put an inquiry up and get responses on a forum.

I've been given bikes and thrown them away.

Actually, it wasn't quite sold this morning. Somebody did contact him before me, so they had priority. They were gonna check it out today and the seller was gonna call me if it wasn't sold. (He did not call, so it sold.)
Silly of me to put this on a thread? Yes, but it made for more entertainment than just buying it. Also, I really don't need it of course.
Fortunately, I'm in area where tons of awesome free stuff on CL -- not just bikes -- stays listed for awhile. It's a college town at its core, so the most coveted things are furnishings.

You can say that again. I guess because I ride, relatives ask if I want their sons old
