Commuting - super glue proof padlock

I've been commuting to work by bike for several years. I keep some basic bathroom stuff in a locker there so I don't have to bring it with me all the time. Lately some pranksters have been going into the locker room at work on weekends and super-gluing everyone's locks so that the dial can't be turned. Is there any kind of lock that is impervious to this kind of vandalism?

There is a new electric lock which is ideal for this. You put the lock on the bike and plug it in. When someone touches the lock they are electrocuted. The cooked body stays there as a warning to others.

Hey Jim can these locks be hooked up to the dyno-hub for use on the fly? Might be good for dogs?

not that I have ever heard of, but as long its all metal construction then a shot of acetone will clear that right up. Acetone, or nail polish remover, is a strong enough solvent that it will wash away super glue from metal parts. If the dial or the other components below the dial are plastic then you are s.o.l.

I seem to remember reading about a lock system that was completely inside the door, no keyhole, activated by a knocking or tapping device that is pressed against the door surface. If I remember correctly, it was made by an Israeli company. Cannot find the links now, sorry. And I suspect it would be too high $$ for this kind of purpose anyway.

How about better security for locker room door, maybe recording CCTV on the outside?

I wonder if spraying the locks with silicone lube will reduce the odds of the glue sticking?

Where in the world do you work? Does the public have access to the locker room, or is this a co-worker doing this?

Next time it happens, call the police and tell them you feel like you're being targeted and harassed at your workplace, you no longer feel safe because it's obvious access to your workplace is out of control, and you're concerned that whoever it is could escalate to real violence.

That'll get the attention of the building's management.

If the police don't work, I recommend catching the guys, pantsing them and supergluing their asses to the door.

Slopping around that much super glue is bound to result in some getting on the culprits fingers. Just start eyeballing your co-workers hands.
If you find out who it is, wait until they are sitting down, then sneak up behind them and dump a bunch of super glue down their backside which will glue them to their chair.
They should get the message. ;)
Large bottles of extra fast acting "CA" also known as super glue are available at any hobby shop.

The bigger fail is you believed them...as long as this is on the same campus...you should have called the police right in front of them man...never believe security just saying!...especially if this in a low crime district!

Really doing that would be a bad idea. When cyanoacrylate bonds with fabric it generates enough heat to cause some serious burns.

Go to H.R. immediately. If that doesn't work, I'd do the police suggestion as noted here.

HR first. Most of company policy dictates. If this issue isn't resolved, go file police report. Forget security on your campus if that is what they said. This person doesn't want "trouble" (doesn't want to do his job is how I see it).

That means they've abdicated responsibility, and you now have to get HR and the police involved. Good luck to you.

Yep, police being called to the site will definitely get some action. I would say install a camera, but you can't do that in a locker room.
