Mountain Biking - How tall are you? (and your bike)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am 5'7 and sometime feel my 17" Schwinn Mesa kinda too big for me doing bunny hopping and tricks..
So how tall are you and what frame size you're using? Do you feel you have total control over it?

I'm 6"2 and ride a 20" inch frame, I feel its alot better than my previous 21" although it is significantly lighter and a completley different geometry so I can't really compare.

i'm about 5'7" and ride a small (16") fluid 3.0. i'd like it to be a bit smaller just to be able to flick it around a bit easier, but the bike's size is pretty much perfect for me.

@ 5.9.5 I found I have way more control over 16 inch from 17.5 (last bike.)
I'm an adult so I'm not getting taller, If you are young perhaps you'll grow into the bike?

5'8", 30" inseam, long arms, classic mesomorph (inverted triangle) body-type. I've happily moved to a 17" Kona after many years riding 18" and 19" mtb's.

Im 5'3 and I ride 20''. Yes you heard me. It's a dually tho, if that makes any differnece. 20'' + want for wheelies= very, VERY hard to contrl wheelies.
I'm about 5'8'' and ride a 16'' frame (?) not quite sure, but it is small

You may want to think more about the top tube than the seat tube. The seat tube has the seat post you can raise and lower as required.
Take a look at www.zinncycles.com
Zinn has a fit calculator that takes into account your torso, arm length and leg length to cough-up a good seat height, top tube and stem for a good fit. Add the top tube and stem- compare that to the various bikes you're looking at.
If you're going to err one way, go smaller rather than larger. If you're too stretched-out you will not be comfortable. My old Mtn Bike was too long. I didn't realize that's why my lower back was not happy on longer rides. New bike- it's fixed. I rode nearly 80 miles of single track and jeep track last Friday & Saturday and felt good enought to race cyclocross on Sunday.
6'4" My hardtail commuter bike is a 21" and my Rockhopper FSR is a size Large.

4ft 11 and I have an XS Scott Mambo which is probably around 13". I think I could do with a smaller frame size but, unless I get a kiddy's frame which is lower quality, there don't seem to be any smaller frames about :(
