Southern California - LA River 2 Long Beach

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
What is the best way to get from the end of the LA River Path @ Figueroa to the point (where is it?) where the path resumes to go to Long Beach? I'm looking for a good route to take involving minmal traffic, safest route etc?
Also has anyone here done the ride at night?
The only way I know is to follow the route the LA River Ride uses....
I dont think I would do it at night!

I believe the that leg of the LARIO goes a bit beyond the Maywood Riverfront Park off E. Slauson.
You sure you want to ride this at night? It is not the best demographic in town. "I don't think we're in Newport Coast anymore, Todo." I suspect the safest route is Elsewhere.
I have had no problems on the other side of the river on the LARIO up the Rio Hondo to Peck Rd. Water Park, cross lots to the SGRT, down it to Four Corners by the dam and back over.

Will have 2 try Rio Hondo some day. You are right about the area, not recommended for night riding. I was going to do it with a large group.

I think I recall a story a few years ago where a cyclist crashed by running over a hole in the ground on the LA River path by thieves who had stolen the wires from the lighting and left the access cover off. I wouldn't ride there at night.

Not less than 10 was the recommended number on the LARIO. I do it solo, but in the day and not up in that sector. LARIO is a nice ride up Rio Hondo way.
