No. You should allow the original owner to ride his/her bicycle home from the beach.

Ethics aside, is Ford any good?

Depends on your definition of "dumped." If it's still there tomorrow night, maybe. If it's obviously been sitting out in the same spot for weeks already, and weeds are growing around the tires or something, then I say go for it. But if it really is in good condition, give it at least a day.

its on the side of a cliff between the bushes. i feel like taking it to the police station, and if nobody claims it i get to keep it.

Good plan to take it to the police, get a receipt (cops are not always honest) and lay claim 90 days later. That's the way it works where I live and you must get a receipt.

Honestly, these guys grab the really good stolen bikes and leave the left overs for Police Auction Day.

I agree best to do it the right way. this might be going a bit far but you coud always post a 'found bike' on your local CL. the owner may claim it but atleast you did the right thing.

Geeze, I don't get it. Why would anyone think its ok to take somebodies bike? You think the owner will see it on cl? You think the owner will go to the cops to see if someone took it and turned it in to the cops? Wouldn't you feel bad just not knowing if you took somebodies bike?

Maybe it belongs to some forgetful kid who trustingly thinks no one will STEAL it?

Sorry, now that I think about it, this must be a trolling question that I was just sucked into. Nevermind.
