Are U locks supposed to be tight where the shackle goes into the crossbar? I bought a new one but it's loose there, the shackle rattles somewhat. Does it make it less secure?

I just checked both of my ULocks and they both rattle a bit. I figure it is just the plastic casing surrounding the crossbar.
If you are a bit nervous about it try the others out at the store you bought it from then ask if you can exchange it for a different one.
