I have been looking for a Paramount "Tourist" model for some time and have only come across a couple of them--both were 10-speed models and I realy want a 3-speed. Anyway, after digging around for some time I have come across one--it's an early 60's model with the plastic fenders and it's in really nice unmolested condition. It's been sitting for a while and needs to be gone through, but it has nice paint and chrome. I have been asked to "make an offer" but have been led to believe the seller expects somewhere around $750 for the bike. Is this too much?
I don't pretend to be an expert on Paramounts, but I don't think it's too much. Bikes like you describe are hard to find in any condition, and this one sounds very nice. A Paramount in almost any condition is going to cost that much, it seems to me.
How long have you been looking? How patient are you? Sounds pretty rare, if it is exactly what you want, you probably won't find another for a long time. So its really more of a matter of "what it is worth to you", rather than to the market.
Condition is everything, and this one sounds like it is in pretty good, original condition.
I look for bikes every day, and I haven't seen one.

I get what you're saying. I've been looking on and off for 3-4 years and this is the first 3-speed I've stumbled upon. It seems like a lot of money, but as you say--I might not find another one for a long long time.
I don't really know why I want one of these so badly, but something about the 3-speed Tourist Paramount really floats my boat. I don't even know how it will ride, but . . .
