What other than simple green is a good rim cleaner? How does rubbing alcohol compare? Also are any citrus products effective like goo gone (a product I like to use for many things but havn't tried on my rims yet). What about a quick sanding?

I just sanded the pads. But I don't know what to do with my rim. I know I don't have the best brake set up but i want to maximize the performance. I know how to tune my brakes for optimum contact.

You could just use 1 part vinager(sp?) and one part water.. mix it in a bowl and put a paper towel in there and rub your rims.. you dont want to use all that crazy stuf.. i've heard of simple green getting into the rim and caroding it and I dont think that would be a pleasent experience. So stay away from the harsh cleaners.. you dont need to strip the finish off them, just get the dust and gook and what-not off them..
