Cyclocross - What is best replacement fork for eliminating chatter?

2009 Blue CX6.5 with stock fork. TRP EuroX Alloy cantilever brakes. Pads toed in and free cable as short as straddle cable would allow. Horrid chatter still present under hard braking.

Finally broke down last night and installed Tektro Mini-V on front, but not ready to give up on the canti's just yet.

Suggestions?

Things to try before giving up on current fork.
0) Make sure headset is tight.
1) Fork-crown-mounted cable hanger (Specialized) if your fork has a hole on the crown.
2) Travel agent with the mini-Vs. This will allow you to keep the brake pads further away from the rim when not braking. You will probably have to shorten your straddle cable to make it fit right with your current brake.
3) Try a low-profile cantilever brake that takes V-brake pads. Sooooo much easier to set up and adjust these pads.
4) Try a shorter brake pad with softer rubber.

I went with a longer straddle cable up front.
The trade-off was less power.

Good list. My money is on option 0 for many folks.

If you can fit a fork mounted hanger then chatter will disappear with no need for any other measures. Why makers don't ship bikes set up this way is very puzzling. You should also find that modulation and braking power improve.

my Spec Tricross Sport 2010 has one of these, and has no chatter issues at any speed. My LBS mechanics (before getting this bike) told me how this simple fix works and not expensive, but only after I got the bike did I realize the 2010 models have the doo-hickey already.

Thanks, all. Gonna stay with the Tektro Mini-V on front, EuroX on rear for now. Great braking and no chatter. We'll see about clearance when we finally get a muddy race day. You know it's coming.
