The problem for us in the rest of the world (where we may have invented imperial measurements, but long since moved to metric) means I have no idea if 59F is hot or cold

61F reverses into 16C,as our BBC weatherman informed us last week.

I'm afraid I was born in the 1950's, so by the time I got through school Farenheight had been phased out, but I still remember (just) maths in pre-decimal currency - a nightmare.

As for 59F if it equates to somewhere just over 10C, then sounds pretty good to me, not to hot, not to cold. With a 15 mph (20K) tail wind, perfect cycling conditions.

The quick method (without the decimals) is:

(F - 30)/2 = C

(C*2) + 30 = F

Not totally precise, but gets you in the neighborhood.

Just though I'd post the standard formulas :

(F - 32) *5/9 = C

(C*9/5) + 32 = F

I'm sure that there are websites around that can do the conversion. I don't know of one offhand.

Funny that the U.S. never caught on with the metric system. We are just too lazy I guess. I remember a number of years ago some people thought a changeover to the metric system was a communist plot intended to circumvent U.S. Foreign policy or some such nonsense.
