General Cycling Discussion - OK, Chamois Lovers…

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

This is the best I've used, and it's no longer made. Not much in the way of anatomical jibber jabber going on; no train or tire tracks all across my backside to make me feel like I'm sitting on a styrofoam waffle. Not true minimalist padding but not at all a diaper.
And key - the material is like a flannel shirt and doesn't grip, grab, or abrade my twigs and berries.
What companies make something like this now?

I have a pair of "adrenaline promotions" baggy mountain bike shorts with a chamois like that in blue. Not intrusive in any way, only difference I feel from regular shorts is that my crown jewels feel fine after a long ride. They're so comfortable that I wear them to play rugby, go running, or just hangout.
looks a lot like my sugoi rs chamois.

Take a look at Gore Bike Wear Power Bib Shorts. I would look at Giordana $100 line (cannot recall what is labaled).
Definitely not the Sugoi RS chamois, which does have all the fancy stuff the OP is not interested in ... although the surface material is nice.
Check out some of the Tri shorts.
Also, my first pair of shorts were some cheap $30-40 Canari's from Dicks/SportsAuthority/something like that. Were fuzzy like that in your picture, did NOT work for me. But maybe for you *shrug*.

I agree. Do you have any meaningful suggestions?

there are synthetic chamois that are sewn directly to the external fabric
without a layer of padding.
see what your LBS can get, first.
Kucharek Helenca were my favorite, but didn't sell well enough to stay in production.

I couldn't find them in bibshorts - at least not yet.
Thanks

My Gizmo bike shorts have a chamois like that.
Hard to tell from the pics, but is that like a microfiber material? It does look like the Gore stuff at first glance.

The texture is like that of a chamois/flannel shirt.
