Bicycle Mechanics - Campy Thumb Shifter too stiff

I just rebuilt my 06 centaur right shifter and the new g springs solved my problem with the trigger shifter.

The problem is that the thumb shifter now feels too stiff. It ratchets just fine, but requires more force than i'm used to. I'm not sure if this is a result of the new springs or if it has to do with how i put everything back together.

Yes, that's what he means.

Shift a lot. It'll soon become smooth like butta. After riding and shifting through thousands of miles, you tend to "break in" the ratchets and pawls in the shifter. After replacing the springs or other parts, there will be a temporary and noticeable difference in the feel of shifting.

Just keep riding and shifting. Eventually it'll get back to how it was before, and a long time, you'll need another rebuild. :D

The Campagnolo Ergo system is based on detents. The strength of the detents is based on the G-springs. So, when you changed to a stronger G-spring, both the flippy paddle and thumb knob will be affected. It will wear in but not too much (and you don't want it to be too much). You'll quickly get used to the higher detent so don't worry about it.

As long as you greased the contact points, the thumb button shifting should break in after awhile.
