Hey guys!
Just bought a new DSLR, and rather than buying a specific bag (like the TimBuk2 one that just came out), I would like to buy a specific case/bag that would fit in my TimBuk2 (15" Laptop Messenger Medium)... Any suggestions?
pelican cases.
i put my lowepro toploader 75 pro in my swig sometimes, but it take up almost the whole thing.
i swear there was a thread just like this a few months ago.

get the tenba insert, if it fits in the timbuk2.
There is no way I could fit my DSLR in any of the messengers that I have. I actually have a pretty decent sized backpack that I use when I take the camera with me, and even then its just about the only thing I can fit into the backpack. I've been looking to get one of those DSLR specific packs, but I can't find anything that really appeals to me.

you can actually buy the inserts seperately. maybe it can fit in your timbuk2. if not, just wrap it up. ive had no problems wrapping up the body/lens together.

i could never get my d70s to lay against my back just right in my timbuk2 medium messenger.
but now i can carry my 15" macbook pro, as well as my d70s with room to spare.
I have a lowe bag that holds the camera and two lenses. I stick that bag in my metropolitan.

i use a kata bag.
I sewed a Domke Insert (http://www.amazon.com/DSLR-Camera-Insert-Compact-Shipping/dp/B00348J5Q0/ref=pd_cp_p_1) into the center divider of my Timbuk 2 bag. I put it on the top side so it doesn't bag around

Anybody have luck with a bag that carries 5D + battery grip... Right now I wrap mine with a scarf and put it into an army surplus bag that fits it nicely...though I would love a nice insert for my timbuk2 bags

i get creative with the padding to cradle the gripped lens.

find that this works extremely well and doubles as its own bag.
i never hesitate to go out in the rain with this inside my timbuk2

Is this one big enough for a camera + battery grip?

yeah the inside is customizable, velcro dividers
I don't generally carry my dslr in my bag just because it takes up so much space (d200+grip+17-55 af-s = huge), but I do carry my Leica and an extra lens on most days. I took some padding from an old camera bag and lined one of the outer pockets with it. It works great. On the rare occasions I do take my dslr, i just stick it in the inner pocket with no worries...except for putting something between it and my back.
I figure my cameras are just tools, and the digital ones will be obsolete soon. Sure I don't want them to get smashed, but no sense babying them.. I'm much more careful with my lenses though, and my Leica since it'll still be working and useable for decades to come...well, as long as film's still available anyway..

and throw it into my bag

you just need to find the right way to carry. i carry a gripped body with an even slightly longer lens mounted.
optech. i put it in my chrome

I have a have a pretty big bag and my camera fits fine in it. but i never ride with it. Riding with school stuff is already making it hard to keep a good speed. With a camera it scares me.
