calling all members: 2 TIkits stolen in San Francisco Bay Area in the past week. are they targeting the Tikits now? i guess they now know how expensive these bikes are: pls keep an eye on these bikes and help our fellow folding bike riders.

Not just the Bike Friday tikit, but any bike that is in ridable or pushable condition is subject to increase interest and theft by both amateur and professional ones (anything from underage minors to multi-thieves theft rings). Current "Bike Craze"
Staying fit craze overlap
Cheap transportation
Many people who buy bikes who don't care where they came from & don't ask questions
Overworked & understaffed law enforcement

I seriously doubt it.

Distinctive bikes are harder to sell and more likely to get noticed when the thief tries to resell it. Bike theft is rampant in the Bay Area, and it's also such a large area that this is clearly a coincidence.

Besides, Tikits aren't really that expensive. Carbon fiber bikes usually start at $2000, often hit at least $3000, are more common and more in demand.
