oops, forgot to mention i'm only 13. so joining some kind of dating service won't help much.
If I'm your age, I'd definitely go out and have some fun, stop worrying about having a girlfriend.
BTW: if you're not experiencing it already, in about a year or so, you're gonna notice yourself going through some pretty wild emotional swings. Try to keep things in perspective.

At 13 you don't need or want a girlfriend... you have 2 hands for what you need... which is perfect- 1 for the magazine and 1 for the...
business.

Correction - 1 hand for the mouse - this is the digital age. Seriously dude... at the age of 15 I was with a girl for 6 months. What a waste of time. Even at 16 I still didnt know what I wanted from a relationship. At 17 - well I've been with a girl for just going on 5 months now. I think it might be working.
At your age, go out have some fun. Maybe a movie here or there, but don't get "tied down" you are kind of expected to spend alot of time with the girl. It REALLY eats into your personal time. If you "need help" I think you should just wait...love will come when you least expect it. Failing that...internet chatrooms are good...try Yahoo!

Learn to play the game early and it doesn't hurt as much when you are older. I watched a lot of my friends chill out and not know how to handle the far more evil highschool -> college girls.
Easiest thing that will help you through life with women, common interest. If it is all about the body or something else vain, it won't work unless you are loaded. (I know you are 13) You have to have something you can talk about. (heck it can even be the same group of friends or party scene)...
16 years ago...so much easier then, girls hadn't even begun to figure out how to really play men. If you can grow with their skills you will be that much better off when they really get good at dating. Girls almost always have the power card. They may act like the victim in dating, but rarely are.
I love that post allister. Saw it years ago. My gf got a kick out of it too.
You're thirteen. TRUST ME you don't need the drama. Heck I didn't really start dating until I was seventeen, course then again once I got started.....

Since you cannot take the square roots of negatives. It means that girls are positively the root of all evil. :D
14 year olds wanting a girlfriend? That's right up there with 'girls' in grade 2 dressing like they were britney spears. What in the hell is this world coming to.

dont sweat it, just be yourself, and once you get into high school the girls should be practically falling around you.
key is to not look like your looking....despite how backwards that sounds. It was always when i wasnt looking that i ended up getting a phone number. Given I'm not the kind of guy that just walks up and hits on a girl, i'm a bit too shy for that, but i guess it all boils down to how outgoing you are.
Either way dont sweat it...your a good few years off from when you should be worrying about that kinda stuff.
Shoot! Im 44 and need help myself! Just when you think you
got em figured out they turn 14! HA! Been a few years since i
hooked up with a 13 yr old but i think it's safe to say girls/women
like humor and confidence....just be you!

Yes, just keep making inquiries in anonymous chat-rooms and message boards on the internet, you'll get lucky eventually.
That was a joke. Please go outside and interact with your peer group, in person.

At 13 no one is ready for the emotional rollercoaster that a girl will put you through. For now, just keep riding your bike and living the changes that happen in the next three years(puberty, hating the parents, etc). When the time is right and your voice stops cracking all the time, you will wind up with a girlfriend and then you will see that they aren't as awesome as everyone says.
Don't ask jarhead.
I really don't have any advice beyond that though, I think mainly due to the fact that I didn't date anyone when I was younger. When I finally did, I really had no idea what I was doing. It's probably better IMO to start younger - things move a lot faster for kids, and what seems like heartache often isn't. Back in middle and high school, there were a lot of friends of mine that seemed to go through mini-melodramas on a weekly or monthly basis. It's something that teens kind of have to go through.
I didn't and now I'm at a complete loss...

Play with toys for as long as you can. Don't get yourself distracted with gf stuff yet .. it can wreck you forever. Enjoy being a kid.
I was kidding... should have added those emoticons.
Seriously, just be yourself and don't stress it. Why are kids trying to grow up so quickly? Trust all of us, you don't have much time to enjoy growing up, and you ought to just enjoy it, because when you do actually reach adulthood, there are a ton more problems than something like girlfriends (which can be a problem in and of itself!).

I was going to give you some sage advice, but since I just had my divorce 3 weeks ago, I feel I have no credibility in which to comment.
My jaded advice would be to go ride your bike and don't worry about girls, they are (as proven above) all EVIL!!!!

Keep riding harder and harder every day till you become a big Lance and date rock stars ;)
make sure your money stays your money. do not give her anything to drag you around by (don't let her use yer yahoo as a leash).
if you must have someone they must realize that you have no NEED for them and that they are just an accessory to your life, as you are this to them whether they realize it or not.
also, do not get legally married. no one should allow someone else to own one's property. the bank will do enough of this for you.

Tips from MsVicki on Getting a Girlfriend:
1. Treat any girlfriend you have with respect.
2. If you "go out" with a girl and then break up, don't go talking trash about the girl to your friends.
3. Always put a higher value on a girl's personality rather than just good looks.
4. Be a gentleman. (In other words, don't be a dick.)
5. And never, ever, ever, ever, EVER take Jarhead's advice on anything pertaining to females!

Im assuming you want a gf to fit in better, everyone else is getting into it, so you want to as well. I used to see this all the time in my high school, but not so much these days. Its common among the freshman. Hell, I went though it too in 9th grade. All I can say is, dont push it. If you really want in on that stuff, fine, but dont rush it. Going out and "getting" a girlfried does not work, at least not for more than 48 hours. It will happen when it happens. Let it go for now.

Learn to turn over a 60-11 at 120 RPM and the girls will be all up ons. Oh and yeah, don't worry about it at 13. Bike your heart out right now and when you're a few years older, let them feel your freshly shorn legs. BAM, you're in.
Or what MsVicki said. Whatever.
1. Don't listen to the supposedly joking (or not) girl-bashing here. Being suspicious or afraid of all girls just because they are female is the last thing that will help you talk to any or get to know any as individual people.
2. Are you platonic friends with any girls? I know that can be hard depending on what the social situation is like at your school, etc. But remember that a lot of the deepest relationships start out as friendships.
3. To give you any more advice, I'd have to know more about why you want a girlfriend and why you say you need help.
Also, I'm with Ms Vicki about respecting girls. Believe it or not, this stuff is confusing to them, too. And I agree with a lot of the other posters -- it may seem right now like you "should" have a gf or are "late" compared to other kids who are trying to act grown up, but don't sweat it. Romantic companionship can be a great thing, but if you rush to hook up with girls just because you think you're supposed to, there's going to be disappointment and hurt feelings all around, including possibly your own. We were all 13 once (I was a girl) and it can feel like you're old and should be doing a lot of things already, especially if your friends are, but really, trust us. You've got lots and lots of time. Here's to being happy with yourself, gf or no.

be nice to your female friends, all girls are potential girlfriends. The ones that you might not like have friends, and talk to them about everything. Only interact with girls in small doses. You're a male, you'll screw up if you have too much interaction with women...and that won't change no matter how old you get. Small doses of thoughfullness and courtesy paid to girls, all girls (even sister, mom, the ugly chick) will make the girl only remember that you're nice...and you don't give them enough time to see you screw up (also not enough time that they know you well enough to put you in the "just a good friend" category)...the small doses also trigger some sort of wierd "hard to get" thing in girls.
Also, if you ever do have a girlfriend, be super-good to her....especially when around other girls. Soon the other girls will notice that you're always nice and will envy your girlfriend. When the relationship ends, they'll all come a knockin. and you tell them "it just didn't work out, and I'm sad about that." Your points for being sensitive count double on top of the "nice guy" points you've earned earlier. There is also a "previously unobtainable" multiplier to factor in. The trick is that it's all got to be sincere, chicks can smell you trying to fake it as good as they can tell you're the one that ripped that fart in the car.
So to summarize:
Oh, it takes a while to work, but it will work. keep pedalin. always be nice, never skip a ride for a girl....that is unless you really like her and you've skipped a couple already. You gotta keep bein you.

The ladies love the shaved legs:D.. Although at 13 I doubt that's an issue. Seriously, take everyone's advice and just live a little without worrying about girls. The only relationship I've been in honestly didn't feel like anything special (the whole relationship thing, not the specific girl) and I'm really quite content with myself. Learn to like yourself so you don't need to depend on someone, then take it from there (self-confidence and whatnot).
...13 once (I was a girl) and it...
I hope in context you meant you were once a girl and you're a woman now.
Otherwise, well it gets kind of weird, not that there's anything wrong with that.
