Attempting to remove this Suntour Superbe cartridge bearing bottom bracket, but the cups won't budge under the affect of my adjustable spanner (http://www.parktool.com/product/pin-spanner-green) - the pins keep slipping out of the grooves.

Does anybody know of a suitable tool that will give me enough grip to get these things out? They seem to be in there pretty tight.

Thanks

an 8 notch bb tool does not fit? http://www.parktool.com/product/bottom-bracket-tool-1

Unfortunately, I think that tool does not fit; it specifies an 43mm outer diameter, which a few mm too large for this spline.

Search over on C+V. There obviously is/was a special tool made for these but they are apparently pretty rare. Park made an adjustable spanner with square pins that might be a tad better but not much. You might need to make your own tool by grinding down something suitable.

Thanks for the information.

I was able to get both cups out with my adjustable spanner by pressing down on the contact points very hard while turning. A sturdier spanner may also have helped.

Cheers

May be a one way removal, but a drift punch and a good sized hammer
will exert the needed force to drive the thing around.

as long as the frame doesn't move around too much .

Don't forget your to wear safety glasses
