I suppose you have almost certainly seen the reviews linked from Trident's website?

Sounds pretty decent.

There is a 2009 review of the Stowaway II on www.bentrideronline.com in the buyer's guide section. There is no followup on user's reviews from bentrider readers. Go to the trike section of the messageboard and ask your question. You are likely to have a few more owners who post there.

Sure did. Also the Recumbent Journal, etc. Price, folding and feature set are attractive. Now I am looking for Happy or Unhappy Campers out there somewhere.

I think you may have a difficult time finding a dissatisfied stowaway owner. I owned a Stowaway 1 and it was a very impressive ride. Well built and Tom is a fantastic guy to deal with. He has always been responsive and I have always felt like I was fairly treated whenever we deal. The only problem I ever had was fitting a sensor on the wheel. A little heat, a bend, and a bit of touch-up paint put the mount in the correct spot and all was right with the world.

@@@ TrailBear answers his own question...
Got to ride a Stowaway II up at the 3-2-Go trike store in Ventura. As mentioned in the Utah Trike review, the II is for "smaller riders". Sure 'nuf. There was a bar in the seat back that was hitting me just below the shoulder blades.
Passed on that one. Rode a Sun - interesting pedal steer. Better fit. Passed on a ride on the ICE. Way over my budget.
Decided to go with the Rover X5 from Utah Trikes with 27 gears and 26" rear wheel. There was a deal on Black Friday.
It arrived this Friday and I have spent the weekend in commissioning it and test rides. Not bad. Comfy for a 6' clyde medium. Seat is high enough that you just sit down. None of the contortions required for the low slung sports trikes. Low slung seats would probably finish off my bad knee.
Spent some time with PVC pipe and fitting making fixtures to hang my toys from. This will get me going. GPS and blinker light are on the derailleur mast. Another light mast was installed on the rack aft.

Cool. What are the chain rings you added? The site shows the X5 as a 9 speed.

I think that's the model that my wife was considering. We drove her Saturn SL1 to the bike shop and assigned them the challenge of finding a trike that my wife could fit inside the car and assemble to ride by herself. The winner was a Greenspeed GT3 due to it's 16" wheels. Even the Greenspeed requires removal of 1 front wheel to fit inside my wife's trunk but my wife says she can be ready to ride in around 5 minutes.

The 26 inch wheel kicked the gearing up to 24" at the bottom, which does not cut it on the hills here.
I swapped the cranks out for the Lasco 152mm. with 22/32/44 rings. Got 16.8 to 104 GI.
I have a detailed analysis over on Bent Rider On Line. Bottom line - the UT Rover to get is the 8DL with the 24 speed upgrade. 20" tires all around and you can climb things.
