Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Windsor Time Line w/ Fenders - Which fit?

Just ordered a Windsor Timeline and want to turn it into a all-weather bike (winter included).

If you have one and are using fenders, what are you using? I want full fenders BTW. I'll be using the 32mm tires for most of the time, but studded Nokians for the snow and ice.

Don't buy those fenders. Planet Bike Speedez clip-on fenders are very unstable, especially the rear. They rattle around like crazy and do not stay in position. Your bike has fender eyelets so there is no reason not to buy a good pair of real bolt-on fenders. The Planet Bike Cascadia fenders are much better. You can easily run 32 mm tires and wider under the "hybrid" width version. The road version is too narrow and the MTB version is too wide to fit in your frame and fork.

I know the fenders can attach to the eyelets, but how would they hook on to the rest of the bike? Don't full fenders usually require you to bolt to both the front fork and rear seat stay?

Either by the kickstand mount there is usually a threaded hole, and/or you attach it behind the rear brake on the bridge.

I have the timeline and use the planet bike speedez road fenders, but I only run 700 x 25 tires. Your bike has a lot of tire clearance so I would get the full bolt on fenders that would fit a hybrid.

OK, thanks for the advice. I know someone who has a Timeline and they told me the bolt in ones wouldn't work well due to there being no place to mount between the stays. How can I solve that issue? The pics show a brake mounting braket on the front, but not rear fender.

He also said that the eyelets in the back were for a rack, not the best for fenders. Could I run a rack and fenders in the same holes?

Depending on the fender, sometimes. I have done it with fenders mounts first, then rack with some longer bolts.

The eyelets in back might not work with metal fenders...depending on their shape and flexibility, but should work with plastic fenders just fine. You can run a fender and rack if you have long enough bolts.

Another option would be to use Planet Bike Clipons...they don't provide full coverage, but very close to full, and they can be installed or removed in a few seconds and are surpisingly stable. They are excellent fenders. You can use them on wet days and remove them on dry days.

if you can bolt the fender to the back... I'll have to check the eyelets in the back of my bike.

I like those Serfas ones.... hmmm....Do you know that those will fit?

The speedez fenders attach to the fork blades and seat stays via a series of rubber straps. This system sucks...avoid like the plague.

Good fenders are bolted to end of the steerer tube (up front) and to the brake bridge (in the rear), and to eyelets near the front and rear dropouts (or track ends).

The PB clip-ons snap onto an L bracket (in the front) that needs to be installed, and the rear simply snaps onto the brake bridge and the seat tube. You would think that these fenders would be less stable, but they are so light and rigid that they actually work very well and do not jostle over bumps. The thing I like about the PB clip-ons is that they provide almost the same coverage as fulls, do not rattle, and can be removed in about 10 seconds.

As much as I love buying everything from the comfort of my computer, it looks like a trip to the LBS is in order. I think I will try work out the bolt-in fenders + rack (bolts are easy to find). I can return the fenders to the LBS without much hassle if they don't work. Not so much with the online vendors.
