First and foremost, I have no knowledge on the topic, and don't plan on doing one of these ever.

That being said, are these things any more true-able than an arrowspokes' spoke?

Discuss.

Either he wants more posts, wants to bait out some flametry, or just genuinely wants to know about them.

I'm kinda interested in them, never heard or seen those before.

Im genuinely interested in them, just like you. So sit back and wait for someone to chime in who actually knows what they are talking about.

It won't happen. None of us ride bikes or post anything valid, remember?

I've only seen pics of them. They don't look very easy to true. I think it's something that started with lowrider bikes.

Scrod has a good point, we don't actually ride that often or know that much. most of our time is spent on this stupid forum arguing like mechanics who build cars but never learned how to drive. they are cool looking though, it's a direction i could see fixie culture heading in simply because it's a demographic always looking for another way to add more flare to the second simplest form of transportation.

Although...

Mr. Tomo_Ishi does have a front wheel with twisted spokes, I remember he said he didn't measure anything when he bought the spokes and ended up having to twist them.

Truing is possible, though the method may not be quite as conventional as with a regular laced wheel.

If you take a look at the Instructable that your picture came from (is not linked to it, but anyways), it has to be trued and trued again after riding before it locks in.

I think they are sometimes called snowflake wheels

I remember seeing them used on the Nike Air Force 1 bike a couple of years ago

Rim: Alexrims A475
Hub: Naked Front
Pattern: 3x (single twist 3 times; not flower)

I computed the correct spoke lengths later and it is supposed to be around 284mm. But I bought 290mm you see? Turned out quite nice looking and quite strong.

I wouldn't mind figuring out how to lace in the flower pattern. There's got to be some trick to lace it in short time like some mnemonics. Having to go back to that photo every time is gonna take too much time. (Thus more possibility of mistakes)

I've done a twisted spoke wheel like above out of a throw-away Schwinn wheel. Nothing to say really, trued just fine.

Me and the manager at an old shop did it just to do it. I kinda watched while he did it. He did put them on his SS MTB and do a 24 hour race on them.
