I've lost my motivation and I really can't get it back.....
Some of you may have read my post about my crash in DC, well that took me out of commission for a month. I came back and did a few workouts (couple spin classes, couple runs, one day swimming), but the motivation is not there. This has been just overall a bad season, I've been steadily on the downward slope all season, while a friend that I train with sometimes and we compete together has steadily moved upward.
Problem is even knowing that he has me in the bag now I still just am out of it. I just don't feel like going out and doing anything. Any tips? Maybe I should take up a different sport over the winter to build back my base? I don't know, but if I keep going like this next season is really gonna suck.

Lack of motivation happens to everyone from the amateur to the pro. Personally, when training gets to where it's not fun (and it happens at times) then I just look at it like I do a job and do it anyway. I know that the lull will pass and just try to work through it. As much as I hate training in motivational lulls, I know that I'm going to hate myself more in the future for skipping workouts.

yeah i took a week off for the same reason, i was stressing about my times and not just having fun. I would run so hard and try to improve my times that i lost the "fun" i took the watch and threw it in the drawer and ran the other night, probably slower and the longest I've ever done. I mapped it when i got home and did 7+ miles.... AND I DIDN'T HURT! Now its fun again for me. I have a 10k in 2 weeks but i could care less about my times. i just need to be thankful I'm outside doing what i like to do!

It is normal holmes......take the time off to re focuse do other things work on the bike and identify stuff you want to buy to go faster/look cooler.....It will return ..If not sell off the stuff & do something else.

Time off, do something you enjoy. Alternately, if you really want to train, similar to the above, forget the watch, the power, the HRM; hell, forget your cadence on the bike, your stroke length/count, or your running turnover--just go out and enjoy the sports. When it gets fun again, do it for a week more. Then return to training.

I find myself in a lull from time to time. As other suggested, what always helped me is to take a short time off, or to train without worrying about pace or HR or time. Just go out and try to enjoy it for what it is and hopefully you will remember why you fell in love with the sport in the first place.
