I am about to pull the trigger on my first cross bike. I have narrowed my choice down to two different ones, a left over 10 fuji cross comp and a 10 redline conquest. The fuji will cost me 75 dollars more than the redline after my lbs upgrades the shifters and front derailleur on the conquest to 105 so it is a complete 105 set up. Which bike should I go with. Both have similar geometry and ride very well.
Are you planning to use this for CX racing?
I'd probably lean toward the Fuji because of it has better fork and crankset, and I have more trust in 32-spoke wheels. If you get the Conquest, I think maybe you'd be better off keeping the Tiagra components. They work very nearly as well as 105 and the 9-speed parts are much cheaper to replace.

I am planning on cx racing it. But also using it as a back up to my road bike and training. Living in iowa we have some great gravel roads for training. My lbs is charging me 100.00 to upgrade the tiagra shifters and derailleur to 105.

5700 ? then its worth the 75 extra
I also picked up an '09 cross comp earlier this spring. $750 all told. I've since put on an Easton carbon post and decent saddle. Great wee bike. Has basically become my go to bike for most rides. I was thinking of putting some Aksiums on it - Andy K, you'd mentioned the 32 spoke wheels as a potential trust issue. Do you think I might be better off with Ultegra/open pros?
Regardless, although I've never ridden the Conquest, I can't imagine a better deal than the Fuji. Get it, you won't regret it.

I ended up going with the fuji, but found a 09 in perfect shape for $625! So far I am very pleased with it, except for the factory wheels and the factory saddle. Compared to my elite road wheels, I can definitely tell a difference in the quality and how smooth the hubs are.
