Hi there all,
This may be a stupid question but please bare with me. I have a bit of a project that I'd like to get started on and the main thing stopping me converting to a fixed gear is that I haven't found the correct wheels/hubs and ordering from oversea's seems a bit of a pain as prices here are a bit crazy. I found a set of wheels lying in the shed that have a thread and thought they might be able to be converted to a fixed wheel with a bit of hacking. I have posted photo's of the thread and would like to know whether I could fit on a fixed cog and lockring?

that does not look threaded for a lockring. the only thing you could do is JB weld on a cog (if it even threads on) and hope it stays. Most people on this forum will not recommend that.

As a complete noob searching for something I didn't know existed would be kinda hard. Thanks for the links and I will try this suicide approach for the short term and if I really enjoy riding fixed gear I will invest in something more permanent. Thanks for the helps chaps.

yes it will work just fine thread on your cog,tighten it down with a chainwhip,then take a standard bottom bracket lockring[same threads] put some loctite on the threads tighten it down use a lockring spanner.then respace wheel to get the chainline to be straight,redish wheel to center it in the frame rails,thats it.I have rode a wheel like this for 3 yrs with no problems.I'm not a skidder though,if your planning to skid I would get a fixed specific wheel.
