I found a 1986 raleigh olympian (steel) for sale for practically nothing in a local ad. What do people think of these? I hear that the aluminum olympians from the late 80s were way better bikes, what do people think of the earlier ones? Thanks!!
I definately don't trust 1980's aluminum. Look at the Bridgestone Radac if you need to know why. BEAUTIFUL bike by one of the best manufacturers at the time (ever?) and they try aluminum and we are left with a bike as flexy as a wet noodle. I don't know anything specific about the Olympian but lets face it, steel was still the metal of the 80's. It wasn't until the mid nineties that everyone got caught up on the whole aluminum things and made bikes that weren't flexy, or didn't ride like a cinderblock (if you want to know what I mean ride an old Cannondale/Mongoose/early 90s aluminum bike)...
