Sunday I am going on a 25 mile tour of the wine country around the Western Reserve on the shores of Lake Erie. The whole thing is that the ride will be with a bunch of wanna-be's and road snobs, so I plan on riding the new and improved Concord single speed(actually, it is now a new, properly sized frame, all black, black seatpost and a red fork, same component mix)road bike. I think it will be fun to see some reactions, especially on the "steep" hills that are claimed to be on the route when I power past them on a single speed. I'll let you all know how it goes!

Don't listen to MKRG, he's a hoser. You'll do fine, and everyone will respect you because you're doing it the 'hard' way.

BTW, SSenorPedro, I dig your sig. However, your blog has too many brakes and derailers for my taste!

I'll just say "well, I was on a singlespeed!" if by some unknown reason I get spanked!

Isshoukenmei norimasu.

Listen to "Hell bound train" by Love and Rockettes before you ride.

"No parachute, no prayers to say."

Absolutely not! I just don't want to give the impression that I bought a new bike...

Get a water bottle cage and stick a bottle of wine in it. The spanking won't be as bad that way.

You don't get it...The people who I am riding with got spanked by my mom, who rides at about 12 mph. One of them supposedly rode the 200 miles from Miami to Key West, but my MOM SPANKED HER in a ride around the neighborhood. I'll be just fine blowing by people on $1000 bikes who get beat by my mom.

Oh I got it. Well the wine will ease the pain of having to wait on everyone else anyway ;)

So, basically the people I am riding with are a bunch of equipment snobs who spend more time buying parts than actually riding, and are going to see a surprising display of single speed road riding come sunday(hopefully, nothing is 100%).
