Cyclocross - canti brakes

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am building up my cross bike, and trying to find a brakeset for the front fork, the current set of tektro's, the pads hit the fork and do not open very far so it will be hard to get a wider tire on. Can i put thinner pads, or what is a better set? The fork is a Performance carbon fork

Just be cheap, and deflate your tire.

I found an older pair of shimano cantilever brakes, and put some newer pads on them, these work far better than the newer style tektros

Pull the straddle cable off one end, and use shorter brake pads,
or
saw off any length of brake shoe that goes back in side of fork blades.
It's OK the Pro's mechanics use hacksaws.
