Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - Nishiki Medalist - opinions?

Is this worth looking into? It's my size...

I weigh about 170lbs, since I believe there is a weight limit on that frame material?

You realize that you are talking about one of the rarest of all higher end Nishikis. Production was limited to 1984 & 1985 and it was not cataloged. This is only the third one that I have seen on these forums. I'd buy it and pay for the shipping myself, but I already have the identical twin, not quite as nice.
IMHO, well worth the asking price.
As for weight, I weigh 185 and I ride Tange 2 as a back up bike and occaisionally, a Tange 1 frame with no problems. At 170, you're good.

+1, though I'd rate the Medalist upper mid-range. The tubing is lower high end but the components definitely drag it down into mid-range territory. I'd be truly surprised if the frame was made by Kuwahara. Most of the Japanese origin Nishiki of this period were made by Kawamura. If the OP purchases the bicycle, they may want to post the serial number and some pics (drive side please) in the Nishiki Serial Number Database thread. I sure the forum memebrs would enjoy seeing it.

I saw that ad this morning, and thought what a nice bike too bad it's too big;)
I'd say it was worth looking at in person.

Hope it lasts, as that is a really nice bike! I am a big fan of Tange Champion 1. My Lotus Classique has that tubing. Very competitive weight wise for a 1984 bike.

In Raleigh, at that price the bike would have been gone about the time the OP finished the first post on this thread.
BTW, I obtaine a Fuji with Superbe derailers and will transfer them to my Medalist.

How random, I came across this forum, Im the person that sold this bike, and yes it as amazing, just a lil tall for me.. I now have a pristine Gitane Defi (1988) that I converted to a flat bar. 23 pounds total weight

The bike in question is long gone. I wish that I was able to see it before it sold. That sounded like a fine/rare Nishiki.
