I chose my Halloween costume to fit my bicycling habits. I cycle commute almost everyday, and when my new boss was encouraging people to wear costumes, I decided on Miss Elmira Gulch. You remember her. Think do do do do doo do. Think Wizard of Oz. You got it--the witch before she turns into the witch during the tornado. I will try to post a picture, but I am not so sure I remember how.

I hate Halloween, sorry.

Doesn't do it for me, either. Give away candy, go to bed. Ok.

Yes, that is Toto. There's a pic of him that i will try to add :-)

And for those who aren't Halloween folks, I am not normally either. But when the new boss makes a request . . . well, I can play the team player as well as I play Miss Gulch.

Excellent! I love it.

I rode on a brevet today, and the organizer was trying to get us all to wear costumes, and several did. Here's Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz on the left, and that's me, as Charlie Brown, on the right.

Several weeks ago, at the Texas Time Trials, there was a 4-person relay team that dressed as the Wizard of Oz characters. That's the same Dorothy here.

Was in a Hooter's while on vacation a couple of years ago. The waitress uniforms were on sale. It was Haloween.
Wore that to a party at a bar 1000 miles from home.
Not sure I will wear it where I live.

There are commercially-available Charlie Brown Shirts. One is the official thing, but it only has the zigzag on the front. The other appears to be a generic zig-zag shirt. It has the zigzag on front and back, but they don't connect on the sides. So I went to Hobby Lobby, bought a blank tee-shirt and black fabric paint and made my own. I used masking tape and aluminum foil to mask off the stripe. I should have made it a bit wider.

Very creative! It is instantly recognizable. Nice job!

The pics in the second posting still bring a chill to my bones.

50 years ago we had district nurses that travelled the villages on bikes and the pic looks exactly like our Nurse. The only time you saw her was when she was dishing out some nasty medicine or giving injections. She was evil and took pride in using the bluntest needles she could find- and giving you a double dose of the foullest tasting stuff she could concoct.

I'm certain she carried an emery board to blunt the needles and that most of the concoctions she gave us came out of the Vets store of Horse medicines that her husband used to use on his farm.

How did you keep your skirt out of your chain??

I rode about 20 miles total and somehow, the skirt never came near the chain. I am not sure why. Maybe because the top tube is high enough?

You may have time to arrange this- that is if you know what the vegetable is.

One of my mates that used to ride with us Moved up North many years ago. He is a bit of a joker so he likes to get his own back on people that try to annoy him---Like trick or treaters at Halloween.

He has made chocolate covered "Brussel Sprouts" to give as treats to the visitors.

A Brussell sprout is like a mini Cabbage about 1" across. Must look very enticing as they are put in the Goody bag.

Wish he had let me know about it yesterday it as we have run out of treats for any more "Darling Little Children" that knock on the door and set the dog barking again.

Guess Haloween will be short tonight. Kids been coming for less than an hour and we have already used half of our 260 piece candy supply. Too bad some of these kids are as big as I am (actually bigger if you go by weight).

Turned the outside light off at 263 kids in about 2 hours. Gotta give them credit though when the light went off they passed us by. All in all a piecefull evening.
