Especially if you got a phil or a king. Crooks can easily cut the spokes with a pair a pliers and undo the hub. Good hubs can fit easliy in a jacket pocket or whatever and fetches top dollar on ebay. I worry... Is kryptonite the only company that makes decent locking skewers? Can these be adapted to fit track hubs?

Bolt on wheels baby. U should see how long it'd take an ameteur to take the wheels off my Demo 9. :) hehehehe....

My wheels also take a 15 mm bolt if that's what you mean. What, do you torque them on like crazy or what? I'd imagine even an ametur has easy access to a 15 mm wrench and a couple allen wrenches.

krypto is the only company that makes decent locking skewers, but you can get bolt-type skewers that deter theft a bit more. Oh and kryptos work on anyhting that uses a QR of that type and size. Kryptos dont work with alignment springs though.

Ummm no because a thief's not going to bother cutting hubs loose when he can just steal the wheel (or the bike)

Easy..... my high $$ equipment never gets out of my sight, period. My good beater runs errands and out of my sight with just a cheap combo cable lock securing. No worrys here......

:) Exactly!

Unless, you put a chain around the rims and attach it to something . ;)

That's easy, just drill a hole through the hub and lock that too.

I lock my 700 dollar wheels to the frame and the frame to an imovable object. they would rather steal the entire bike rather then the wheels though...

Chaining wheel = easy
Securing hub = hard

It would be a rare thief who goes through the trouble to cut a hub out of a wheel. The thief would have to recognise a valuable hub from a cheap one. Besides, I doubt many theives are selling their haul on ebay. Most surely are fencing the stuff for a small fraction of its value. A hub just wouldn't be worth the trouble.

Better to steal STI levers. It's easier.
