Cyclocross - My first race, TODAY!!!

Well folks, its 6:54am here on October 31st in Morgantown, West Virginia. Happy Halloween!!! The WVU cycling team is hosting the second CX race of the weekend. It's going to be my first race ever. I was always a football/basketball/track kind of guy, but a buddy got me into cycling and I am hooked! Wish me luck, I'll let you know how it goes

I cannot imagine doing a cross race in Morgantown - it's all sharp hills. And not short ones either. Good luck and Let's Go Mountaineers!

Just got back. I gotta say, had the time of my life. They did it at a place called White Park and was a mixture of hairpins through some trees and picnic areas, local trail sections, deep gravel playground pits and then the hardest part being 3 baseball field in-fields. The sand on the fields got tossed up pretty good, so fishtailing was happening everywhere. And as you said, though, rolling terrain all over the place. Up and down and up and down and barrier and climb and up and down....thats about how it went. I'll see if I can get a picture or two up as soon as I get them uploaded. I couldnt have had a better Sunday morning and probably looking at another race here in a couple weeks!

I can't wait for my second event next week.
Parents live in WV so I can imagine what you call "rolling" terrain.

Nice! I was there...racing in the super sandbagger class....good times. You should have been at Marilla the day before. It was a blast too

Haha! ain't that the truth....you get used to it though... I feel fast when I go anywhere else to ride...WV is brutal..
