Touring - BOB skewer too short for Novara Safari?

So, I've been hauling this BOB trailer all the way down to Argentina from Alaska and all was well. Then I got pneumonia. I am now feeling a LOT better, but we figured we would make it a bit easier for me when we get back on the road by putting my BOB on my son's bike - made sense and seemed like a pretty easy fix.

but then - his skewer on his Safari is longer than my BOB skewer!!! We can't put the BOB on his bike! I thought all skewers were the same length... Any idea how we could put the BOB on his bike or am I stuck with the thing forever??

The Safari is (likely) spaced at 135mm, which should be accommodated by the standard length skewer. However, if you're bike uses a smaller hub, or rather one with a smaller OLD, then it might have been cut shorter than standard length. No matter what, a new skewer should work.

Well buggars. We head out tomorrow again and had hoped to put the trailer on my son's bike - I'm still not 100% after pneumonia. I guess I'll just try to get as much weight off my bike and onto his as I can in the panniers and I'll stick with the trailer.

There may be something to go longer yet if someone like
Santana or other Tandem builders

have ordered a skewer set for their customers ,
as the Tandem hubs are wider still, 140 or 145mm

to make room for left side mounted drag brakes on the hubs.
