I'm looking for a new frame, preferably one without a sloping top tube. Even though my current frame is a 49cm, the top tube is a little over 54cm, and it's a bit too long. I was told it was a Fuji, but I guess not because the Fuji has a 52cm top tube.
I'm looking for another 49cm, and it seems like every frame I find in that size has a somewhat sloping tube. The only two that I know of that don't are the Soma Rush, and the EAI Bare Knuckle, but those are pretty pricey.
Any help will be appreciated.

all bikes under the size of 53cm with 700c wheels will never have an effective top tube that is shorter than 54cm without some seriously bad geometry.
If you ask why, it's because the wheels are too big.

Yea I know that, I just don't want to run 650's. My dad has a Mark V HD, and it just feels too small.

My lady's 51cm Leader has a level top tube measuring 53cm.

Actually, I have some vintage steel lugged bikes with 700c wheels that are 49cm and have horizontal TT's that are not super long and w/o funky geometry. The price I pay is tons of toe overlap and they don't accept tires over 25mm. Also, the tubing is small diameter compared to modern bikes, so the TT and DT do not overlap where they join at the HT.

Yea, I was looking at the TT, thinking about that one. I only use 23/25 tires, so that's not a big deal to me. Right now I have no toe overlap at all, but I think it would be OK if my next frame does. I heard it doesn't really effect anything once you get moving.
Alright I'm just looking over some bikes, and the ones with the same actual and effective top tube length should have no sloping top tubes, right?

i have the 50 cm (53 center to top) kilo and it has a 52.5 top tube, it doesnt slope at all, nor does my 53 cm bianchi pista, the pista has a 53.5 top tube. judging by the bike link in your signature i think you would have standover issues with bikes with a seat tube taller than a 50 cm.

oh yea i forgot, i use mks sylvan pedals with mks size small clips and the kilo has ALOT of toe overlap, the pista isnt as bad but it has a little

Standover really isn't an issue to me. My bike now, even with it's sloping tube, still hits up against me. I just really don't want to run 650's. I have short legs, my inseam is a 28.5, lol.

Why don't you want to run 650s? Function over fashion should be your priority.

It's not about that, it's just that with 650's, the bike feels way too small. Personally, I don't mind 650's, they don't look any different to me unless it's next to a 700c bike.
Like I said before, my dad has a Mark V HD (uses 650's), and it just feels super tiny.
