Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Just went from 25C to 32C tires. I highly recommend them!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

CST Ciudad 700x32c are bulletproof. I was going through so many tires and tubes. Especially on my back tire since I do a lot of skidding. I've had these tires for 2 or 3 days and have done quite a bit of skidding and don't see any signs of wear on the tread yet. They make going over brick roads and seams way smoother. My bike feels way more stable. The tires add a little extra weight to your bike, but if you aren't too worried about weight and just skidz and tricks they are freakin' sweet! They have a reflective ring along the side which is a cool little bonus. I do tricks, skidz and commute with my fixie so it helps to have a beefier tire. I dig'em. :thumb:

The size of the tire is not what's helping you with your "skids" it's the makeup of the tire. Vittoria Randonneurs in a size 28 would be just as good, if not better than the tire you are running for skidding. Also you might want to check your ratio on a skid patch calculator so you're not hitting the same one every time.
Learn to slow down without skidding, saves muscles and money.

I know the size of the tire isn't helping me with my skids. My skids are just as smooth...they just feel sexier man. My crank and cog are 46/16 so I'm pushing 77.62 inches and my gear ratio is 2.87. I don't skid to stop...I skid to skid. I have a front brake and mostly just slow down with my legs...or I put my left foot over my back tire if I'm hauling ass.

Tegan and Sara are identical twins from Calgary, Alberta that play guitar, keyboard, and sing, and write indy-pop songs. They are the best musicians thus far in the 21st century.

Just went from forum replies to private messages. I highly recommend them!
Private messages are bulletproof. I was going through so many forum posts . Especially on Bikeforums since I do a lot of cool stories. I've had my account for 2 or 3 days and have done quite a bit of PM'ing and don't see any signs of stopping yet. They make discussing private matters between myself and my friend that nobody else cares about way smoother. My life feels way more stable. The messages add a little extra sanity to the forums, but if you aren't too worried about getting made fun of and just skidz and tricks spam is freakin' sweet! PM's have a privacy setting which makes it so that other people can't read them which is a cool little bonus. I do tricks, skidz and commute with my fixie so it helps to have a jock strap. I dig'em.

By the way...the only reason I was posting in my friends thread was because I wanted answers to your vague questions/comments, man. I'm not trying to be a dick but I'd like to know why you are being so patronizing. I'm technically a noob here, but I didn't sign up for 8th grade squabbling. I'd stand up for james irl and on the internet. Internet is serious business man, I'm sure you know that.

So if I don't skid are 23's ok?
Squirrelli
11-01-10, 05:44 AM
You can't, you're not allow to skid with anything other than 32. As 32 tires are the sexiest among all the other tires.
This thread blows...
vw addict
11-01-10, 05:50 AM
refering to tire sizes are "sexy" is just wrong. And this thread does blow. I'm gonna go mount up some 32's so I can go do mad skidz and maybe some sick barspinzzzz too.

To add some relevance to the thread, I personally feel going larger feels a lot better, despite it not being quite as "fast" as 23s. The first time I switched to 32s I thought the tires were going to pinch flat because of how comfy and "soft" they felt. If you got the space, go as large as you can, cuz what the guys on Rivendell (http://www.rivbike.com/article/components/tires) really makes sense once you feel the difference. Now it's a treat to ride on big tires...especially SUPAAAAA 50mm TIRES!! MMMWWWWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
