Hi,
Please could someone shed a little light on this one for me. frame number is SB8085, not clear from pics or in person but a little pencil rubbing like we used to do over engravings as kids worked the trick in descerning it. I am more into vintage and actually came across this while chasing the owner's Golden Arrow, which is just out of my range. Anyway, I felt this was a good deal, knew a little (I mean only a little) about the SB prefix for the SBDU. Someone I know has been kind enough to help me identify what I have for the components but I am still missing the info on the frame. Also there is a tab/braze on hanging from the top tube, I think this has something to do with race specific cycles as opposed to custom collectors builds, is this right? Any ifo on this would be gratefully appreciated.

You got yourself a really nice Team Pro there. I am going to direct you to the TI Raleigh Team Pro (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TI_RALEIGH_TEAM_PROS/) Yahoo group. Lots of people there who know these better than I do.

Then I'd hate to see what you'd do if you saw my '73 RRA.....

Yup, that is a number hanger. I don't know if that would mean that the frame would have been a custom build or if the frame is a regular off the shelf frame with that one custom item, maybe someone else can shed some light on that?

That looks like a circa 1986 Levi's Raleigh team frame. I have a slightly earlier one that I believe was one of Connie Carpenter's team frames. Those were available to the public as custom framesets, but I think the number tab hanger increases the likelihood the frame was built for the Levi's Raleigh team.
