Alt Bike Culture - odd idea i cant find anything on
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
so i had a crazy idea for a bike. i has thinking of something like a cross between a lowrider and a mountain bike. just wondering what people thought about it.

I like custom bikes for cruising around the neighborhood but I don't understand your concept. If you are talking about a bike for cruising that draws style from the off road scene that's cool. If you are talking about a lowrider that is supposed to be used off road I don't think it will be functional.
Whatever it is, like the previous poster suggested follow your inspiration.
yeah i had no illusions about it being functional off road, just something showy and different. when i get the money/time i want to get a friend of mine who makes motorcycle frames to build a custom frame from 1" square tubing and go where ever it takes me

RANS Allterra perhaps?
Or more "custom-looking" maybe?
The Allterra is about ten inches longer wheelbase than a normal MTB.
It works on milder trails but the long frame doesn't lend itself to technical use very well.

Here's a picture of my Jaguar, bought as frame & forks. Built it up with mountain bike components from a donor bike. It worked better than stock as a practical transpo-bike. And it did look cool. Off road, the gearing was too tall & the ground clearance was too short. But on trails it was fine. Still regret selling it.

don't know if either of these are what you mean, but thay both started from mountain bikes
something i started fooling with. didn't end up as low as i thought (not too high though. seat height is about equal to a girls beach cruiser), but rideable anyway. i'm thinking sort of a softtail bobber type thing now
it really was out of the blue, but i'm keeping an eye out now for a 24" mountain bike with similar rear suspension to make myself a larger bike. this one is just a 20"/24".
and one i played with for a buildoff that started from a hybrid type mountain bike. i'm a little further along but this is the last buildoff pic. don't have a newer one
working on finishing the front end.
playing with a couple other ideas too, but for now i'm just staring at the parts without a real clear idea.
