I stumbled across what appears to be a Vitus 979 yesterday for what I think is a decent price but it's too small for me so I'm only looking at it as a flip.
Other than having no brand decals on it the bike is gorgeous, It does have small decals that say Vitus 979 on them but at the time I thought they were just frame badges along the lines of a Reynolds 531 decal.
Any thought what something like this might be worth?
I only looked at it briefly in a semi dark basement but it's super clean and has a Campagnolo wheel set on it.
This is just a random pic but it's pretty much what I was looking at. I'm just looking for ballpark value.

I own a Vitus. I purchased it new in 1989. It had (has) Campy Super Record on it along with Cinelli bars and stem. It came with tubular
rims.......I have replaced them with clinchers..........still using the original super record hubs. In 1989 I paid 1395.00 for this bike. The photo you have attached: The bike appears to be in very good to excellent condition and looks like it has a top end crank, derailluers, brakes, stem, seat post, bars.......etc.... Looks like old campy crank (super record....maybe record) and campy record rear derailluer. The rims may be original.....the seat have been replaced.
Many people kinda look down on the Vitus because it is glued together and many say it is to whippy. I still own mine, I don't race, but i ride it all the time, i never abuse it. It has worked for me since the 1989 purchase. I have owned other bikes, including a light speed. The Vitus is a very comfortable bike.....riding all day is a pleasure. I will never sell mine. In fact, I rode it today. What's it worth? Depends upon who you talk to. I would buy it if was a good price........offer them 850.00 (you could always sell the components piece by piece on ebay and make up your money.
Thats it.............mavic517.

Thank you for the great info, I'll be buying this one for sure. The pic above isnt the exact bike so I'll have to double check the components that it's got on it.
It really is a great looking bike, I'll be sure to get pics to share once I pick it up.

I just picked up the bike, as I said I saw it in a semi dark basement and it's not as pristine as I thougt but I think it's in reasonably good shape.
It doesn't have the ral high end components I was hoping it would have and someone put some odd stickers on it but I'm pretty sure I did allright at the price I paid for it.
On to the pics,

Any further estimates as to it's value would be highly appreciated.

Esimates and prices now not important. Just enjoy it.

I actually bought this with the intention of selling it, it's too small for me but it was too good a deal to pass up.
I'm 6'6" and have a couple large frame bikes as riders, a 1977 Raleigh Super Grand Prix and a 1976 Gitane Tour de France.
So I really would appreciate any input on what the Vitus might be worth on the open market.

+1. I own this same bike, though mine is full Shimano 600 tricolor. I'm looking to put it on the market in the spring. Fabulous ride, stiff and responsive, though mine is also too small for me. Would love to know what it is worth. Ball park - and sorry I don't have pics with me.
