I'm really a British bike aficionado. Pay no attention to the 4 Schwinns and 2 Roadmasters in the corner. Oh, I guess the Trek is from Wisconsin and the funny recumbent was made by a guy in New Hampshire. But really I like British bikes.
Finding that WWII bike got me inspired to pull this out and lube it up. I'm pretty happy with it. I think it's a 1938. I'm not sure why, maybe thats what the guy who gave it to me said. He might have been guessing anyway. I traded him a shiny, fully loaded '72 Varsity for it a couple of years ago. The original saddle looks pretty nice but I think it would die the first time I sat on it so the trusty B 66 comes out again.
The front hub needed new cones. In cleaning all the grease off of it the silver paint came off to expose a decent New Departure black out hub. Nice surprise.
The chain has about 6 master links in it. Someone was piecing together leftovers I guess.
Oh, the Victory Roadmaster? I drewed it. My old English clubracer wheelset fits really nice and I put a 1/2" chainring on it, too (chrome). Not at all period correct (the wheels are 15 years older and the ring is a lot newer) but at least I can ride it. There weren't any brazeons for me to grind off. Kind of disappointed.
