Hey - I've been lurking here for quite some time but haven't had the need to register until recently as a result of my search for a new bicycle.

Anyways - I was looking for some advice on this CL find. http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/bik/2043146333.html

Really does look to be in fantastic condition - the seller emailed me some high-res pictures and I would believe the description of "less than 100 mi. ridden."

My question then is if the bike is worth the asking price? Looks like it was a lower-end bike when new, but looks to be solid and a very handsome road bike.

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!!

That looks like an '85ish Maruishi, so I'd say it is well worth the asking price.

The early Maru's I've seen are POC's - but the later Maruishi's are beautifully finished, with Tange frames, nice handling, and light weight.

They don't have the name recognition at all though, so they go for less dinero than the equivalent Miyata.

That RX-6 is probably worth the price. I think it is later than 1985 though. That font for the brand name wasn't on the '85 that I had. The date codes on the components would pin down the age.

So you are a former owner? What did you think of the bike when you had it?

I had a 1985 RX-7 which was at the top in the sports series for Maruishi after the racing models. It was well built and was a nice ride. If there is only a generic tubing sticker on the one you are looking at it is likely Tange tubing as auchencrow mentioned above. There are some Maruishi threads around here so a search of them should get you some more info. If you get it be sure to post the serial number.

Ended up buying the bike - it's in really fantastic condition. Will post up the serial number and some pictures ASAP.
