I recently replaced a worn out Dura Ace 7900 cassette with a new Ultegra 6700 cassette (on a Mavic Ksyrlium SSC hub). The Dura Ace had a .070 washer (between the biggest cassette gear and the hub), the Ultegra came with a .038 washer. I originally used the .038, which left a gap and didn't tighten the gear stack enough. Which washer should I use- the .070, the .038 and the .070 together?

try the .070 and see if it any better ,if not then try the two together. if you have gap feelers use them to see what the gap is and go from there.

With a Mavic freehub, I think you need the Mavic spacer, then the Ultegra 10-Speed spacer, then the cassette.

This is correct for many but not all MAVIC hubs. And I suspect the OP needs both washers for his 10-speed Shimano cassette. The thicker spacer is the MAVIC spacer.

I have two wheelsets with the Mavic FTS-L freehubs, and you need the Mavic spacer, then the Shimano cassette spacer, then the 10-Speed Shimano cassette.

The 6700 and 9700 cassettes use the same 1mm shim. If your existing setup has a bigger shim it is most likely a Mavic shim and should be used with the Shimano shim.
