I understood the status of tatoos in the late 80s/early 90s, with the uniqueness and how they made a statement. Then I went on vacation this summer in Orlando and, quite literally, 75% of everyone I saw had tattoos. What's the point of them now? I sounds old and curmudginy(sp) ... maybe I am. I guess I should go yell at kids to get off my lawn.

sports cars, fancy homes, cool clothes, shoes, sneakers, smoking cigars, golfing, kayaking, tats, piercings, mohawks, the list can go on forever, whats the point of them now?
BTW, Lotus flower right? beautiful flower rises from the mud? Right? Nice. =0)
if it's not a lotus, then I'm thinking it must be a sunflower... or an invisible guy with explosive flatulence.

It is more that most people are sheep and unquestionably follow the person in front of them.

I will date myself here, but when I was growing up, tattoos were for servicemen, Harley riders, and convicts. The first time I saw someone sporting a tattoo out of those groups was in high school, and I was actually flabbergasted of why would someone want a dolphin on their leg.
Piercings, similar. When I was growing up, the earring had to be in the right ear, or else you were gay. Seeing an athlete with earrings in both ears was new.
How times change. The early 90s brought about the barbed wire around the arm tattoos, the mid/late 90s brought about tons of piercings.

Our 9 yr old brought up his mom's tattoo in front of her parents last night, a piece of info which had remained private from her parents for ~18 yrs. That was kind of funny.

That's what I am waiting on. The wife has two that she got in her teens that her parents don't know about.
Should make for fun times!

Artichoke and lotus were the first things that came to mind. Bloomin' Onion is a close runner up.

I've got plenty of scars from almost 49 years of living... I do not need further ornamentation LOL
I have a scar on my shin where a piece of plywood that I was putting up for a horse stall sheared off the skin when it fell and I 'walked' into it. Lots of blood, hurt. I still have the scar to remind me to run like hell *before* you get involved with someone that is horse-obsessed. Bikes are much cheaper and don't require daily feeding or stall mucking :)
