I recently obtained a 1989 Cannondale SR2000 when my 1974 Motobecane Grand Jubile died and had to scavenge a few key pieces to make it perfect for me. However, the Shimano BR-A550 Super SLR front brake was far too short to be properly mounted on the front fork.... so I forced it on knowing I'd purchase new brakes soon. I had to find a longer recessed mounting bolt to do it but sure enough it was fine.

Then, a month ago I purchased the "Sheldon Fender Nut" set to mount on some fenders for the upcoming rainy season. I had completely forgotten about the tiny nub of a front pivot bolt and striped two mounting bolts.

So, my question is, where can I find a brake set with a recess mounted pivot bolt which is longer then the one I have now? Are there specific brands or specific product lines to look for?

current length of your front brake stud? they are all pretty similar so i doubt you will find something significantly longer. you can also look at a different fender set. the crud road racer works on many road bikes and you don't need the sheldon nut

The male end measures 1.5cm (15mm) but only .5cm (5mm) is available to connect with the mounting bolt. The longer mounting bolt which was stripped measures 3cm (30mm). The front Sheldon Fender Nut will only allow for a little less than 1.5cm (15mm). So, I suppose I'm looking for a male end that measures approximately 3cm (30mm). Does that help you think of anything?
