If your front tire slips, your weight will move forward where if your tire turns to the left, your bike will go to the left, but you are not prepared for it so you keep going straight. When your rear tire slips, it is alot easier to control where your direction will not change as rapidly and it is easier to put your foot down to control it.

Explain. i'd have to say front, because i've had my rear wash out on me before riding on off cambre stuff... and i'm always able to regain some sort of balance or brace myself for a fall... having the front wash out, i can only picture myself going over the bars or doing some sort of face-plant, which doesn't sound too appealing to me.

b)Front washing out due to loss of traction.
Tail washes tend to be a more gentle crash than a front wash. Tail washes I found your side gets hit, front washes tend to more often be the face getting it. From a pure traction point...the front tire is what does most of your steering, and if it goes, you lose steering input entirely, and are left to hope it bites before you crash.
